“In late 2007, I had an interview to be a park volunteer. I knew the instant I drove down the winding wooded road that I had arrived "home" In the course of volunteering, I have met a truly dedicated staff of park employees and will be forever grateful for the knowledge they have shared with me. It is an amazing experience to be part of this organization.”
Barb Sibila, Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park
“Volunteering in Florida is for us as natives to never forget what has been set aside for us to enjoy, and pass along for others.”
Gloria Connell, park volunteer
“When I finished treatment for breast cancer a neighbor invited me to a volunteer meeting at Rainbow Springs State Park. My husband I and I became active volunteers helping with everything that we could. When he later died, I knew I would have a long mourning period. I could either spend that crying home alone or being productive. I chose the latter, and the park was offered me many opportunities. It has been a wonderful experience.”
Marylou Klein, park volunteer
